Whole year-round, after the delivery of the specialized equipment for proper waste collection and disposal, school teachers and students from Primary school “Bratya Miladinovi”, Konarsko village, use the battery tubes for gathering of batteries and frequently clean up the school area, especially on occasions such as for instance „The Spring Day“, „The Earth Day“ or „The Environment Day“. An Interesting practice has been established in the school – every single day at school, three students of the day are being selected to wear badges and the WasteEDU t-shirts and hats to be responsible during the school brake to keep the other students from pollute and the clean environment at school. Not only an attractive and entertaining for the students model for environmentally friendly behavior, but very effective as well, teachers say.
Following the completion of the project implementation, the partner organizations SPEE-BG and CCC-Gevgelija have been receiving feedback from the selected schools, which signed Memorandums of cooperation. The developed WasteEdu Book “Lifecycle of waste” and TrashTracker Map – Software for mapping of illegal landfills and other polluted areas, as well as the delivered equipment for separate waste disposal and collection in the respective educational institutions of the CB area in Bulgaria and Macedonia, are still being used for various purposes and activities by the pedagogical staff and the students themselves, either for educational purposes in the frame of the training programme, other extracurricular activities or in green ecological campaigns for cleaning the school area.
